This ancient Incan City dates back to the 15th Century and has to be seen with your own eyes to believe. Machu Picchu is surrounded by temples, terraces and water channels and built on a mountaintop. The huge blocks of stone were joined together with no mortar and, of course without any of our modern day machinery, all by hand. Today it has been designated a Cultural Heritage of Humanity in recognition of its political, religious and administrative importance during the age of the Incas. This once in a lifetime hike is not for the faint of heart and is definitely on our bucket list.
Lima! The capital city of Peru, maintains it's historic center as one of the oldest civilizations in America and was named a World Heritage Site. Lima is located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean on the Western Central Coast of the country. One of a kind ocean beaches combine with natural reserves, archaeological sites, adventure sports, museums and exquisite cuisine for a city not to be missed.
